With a forward-thinking approach, the American Academy nurtures skills essential for the future
American Academy Brno is breaking new ground in the Czech Republic by providing an American-style, project-based education that empowers students to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and solve real-world problems. With a forward-thinking approach, the school nurtures skills essential for the future, from data analysis to working with diverse teams, preparing students to excel in a globalized world.
“Our mission is to educate leaders for the 21st century, and Alma is an integral part of achieving that vision,” says Administrator Charlie Sůkalová. “This year, we appointed an ‘Alma Specialist’ to explore the platform’s full potential for our school, making Alma the central hub for our teachers.”
American Academy Brno has embraced Alma’s powerful tools to foster student success and enhance teacher support, particularly for special education (SEND) learners. By utilizing features like Incidents, Tags, and the File Cabinet, the Alma Specialist has equipped teachers with valuable insights into each student’s unique needs, ensuring that every learner receives personalized support. “With Alma, we can give our teachers real-time access to student information and best practices, allowing them to focus more on meaningful, day-to-day engagement with students,” Sůkalová explains.
What sets American Academy Brno apart from traditional schools in the Czech Republic is its modern, global approach to education. Students use laptops in every class, building essential digital skills and accessing a world of resources at their fingertips. The emphasis on a collaborative, supportive classroom culture allows students to build strong rapport with teachers and fosters creativity and problem-solving.
“Our focus on fostering a collaborative, personalized environment is central to everything we do,” says Sůkalová. “With Alma as a key partner, we’re creating a school experience that is as dynamic and forward-thinking as the world our students will one day lead.”
